Learning new crafts and creating new work

This weekend I have invested in a Alga sewing machine which as recommended by a Sewing shop called Franklin's in Salisbury. I will say it is brilliant and does everything I need it to do and more.
So far I have made 2 pillows and a cuddly bunny toy for children. I have so many more ideas for gifts for my family this Christmas and cannot wait to get started on this.

Iam totally in love with a book i picked up from a bookstore...called 'Homemade Gifts Vintage Style' By Sarah Moore. It has everything from card making, sewing by hand to sewing by machine. And this is where i have been inspired to make the below projects.

So I picked up this old tapestry at a small local car boot sale for £1.50 and wanted to transform it into something new and low cost. I rustled up some old clothing that I no longer needed and made the front using a zigzag stitch adding the black panels to the tapestry. I then added another piece of reclaimed fabric to ht back and used an old feather pillow pad and there you have it a reclaimed shabby chic pillow.
I will reuse the frame of the old picture for another project for Christmas so watch this space.

I also went to the Mammoth Car Boot Sale in Wilton this August Bank holiday weekend and picked up some more lovely floral fabric for bargain prices so I am looking forward to more sewing!
